Times and Championship Points for Street Car Weekend at Melbourne Raceway, 15th June 2025
AFTER AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL STREETWEEKEND SUNDAY REVERTED BACK TO THE MELBOURNE CLASSES.
AMERICAN SUPER STOCK
Nice to see the American Super Stock cars along again.
In the semi’s Howard Holmes forced Sara Unsworth into a breakout so lined up against Craig Elliott who beat Tyler Smith, both going under their dial ins, but Craig by the least amount. Though Craig had the better reaction time and 60ft it was Howard who took the win.
NOVELTY QUICK 8 PRO CLASS
Another of Andy Flavell’s great ideas.
Bob Molden, Peugeot 205, made the final by beating Sara Unsworth in the Mustang and then got a bye into the next round while Marcin Szwed got lucky and lined up against Bob when Mark Flavell got a massive wheelstand away from the start and crossed the centre line giving Marcin his ticket to the final. In the final Bob was lightening quick away on the green but Marcin hauled him in at the stripe, Bob showing his consistency with identical numbers to his win against Sara.
6SEC CLASS
In the first semi final Jamie Brooks turbo horsepower just edged out Ashley Hodgson at the line and Carl Mountford, who’d run his first ever 5s managed to stay the right side of 6sec to beat Chris Hodgson who pulled a wheelie away from the start and rolled off the throttle realising he was well beaten. In the final Carl got a cracking start and was ahead, just, all the way even looking across to make sure he was ahead towards the finish line and rolled the throttle but not enough crossing the line first with sadly another 5sec run so broke out and handed the win to Jamie.
JUNIORS
In the semi’s Toby Jackson lined up against sister Jet. Spurred on by running alongside brother Toby Jet posted a new personal best, a full second inside her dial in handing Toby his ticket to the final. Maisie Thornton forced Alfie Barraclough into a breakout to line up against Toby in the final. Though Maisie posted a time just 9/1000ths inside her dial in it was Toby across the line first.
JUNIOR SPRINT CAR
Samuel Crompton got a bye into the final with Dexter Wilson beating Charlie Wilkinson, who’d had to borrow a spare carburretor for his Kart. Samuel had a near 3sec advantage over Dexter but he hauled him in for the win.
NO MERCY BIKES
In qualifying Phil Wood was in No1 spot with a new personal best 5.629sec but was out in round 2 when a near vertical wheelie and slam down damaged the front wheel and deflated the tyre giving Simon Mountford the win. In the semi’s Simon beat Carl Mountford and Phil Tomlinson beat Rob Kneeshaw. In the final Phil made one of his lightening starts beating Simon with a run just 0.056sec inside his dial in.
SCOOTERS NO MERCY
In the semi’s Stephen Holt beat Eric Cope who had an uncharacteristic missed gear moment with 16 year old Jack Stangroom getting a bye as Nigel Howard had broken his Vespa. Jack’s inexperience at the needed fast start on the green meant Stephen got past him before the finish line.
