Dakota Drag and Drift

Drag and Drift returns to Dakota Raceway at Smeatharpe Airfield for another fun filled Saturday of burning rubber and performance on the drag strip and the drift arena.

We have 2 drift arenas – the main arena and the playpen where drifters can learn/practice. Passengers are allowed in both. (Min age 18) All must wear helmets, long sleeves and trousers.

For the straight line enthusiasts, the two lane eighth mile and sprint strip will be in action with a full entry of bikes of varying ages to modern day superbikes courtesy of the National Sprint Association. Classes on show range from Juniors, Vintage and Classic Racing to Road. It’s a great ecliptic mix of motorcycling marques sprinting over the eighth mile, side-by-side against the clock, plus the highlight of the day – The Eliminator.

Although run primarily against the clock, many sprints are two lane affairs which allow you to race directly against your as Day Entries in Run What Ya Brung. This is where you could be racing your mates or the real deal sprint and drag machines. One or two piece leathers are required along with a helmet.

For Car entries, there is RWYB and Dakota American Super Stock.

We are sure that you will have received the government alert with regards to the risk of starting wildfires during this extended hot and dry period. As such there will be a ban on the following at all NORA 92 Limited sanctioned events.

·       Disposable BBQ’s

·       Firepits and open fires

·       Chiminea Fires and Incinerators

·       Fireworks

BBQ’s will be allowed under the following strict conditions

·       Gas BBQ’s are the preferred type and should be used where possible

·       Must be a purchased for purpose BBQ

·       Must be a minimum of 600mm from the ground

·       Must be placed on a ground covering to reduce the risk of fire

·       Must be used with a dry powder fire extinguisher or fire safety stick close to hand

Please ensure that you include the above in your final instructions for your events until such time as these rules are rescinded
