JUNIOR SPRINT CAR

It was nice to see some new faces joining the regulars in the 8 car field with a couple of red lights in round 1, Vinnie Coombes and Jake Little succumbing, Vinnie in his first season of competition.
In the semi’s Jude Elliott beat a faster starting Toby Jackson, 0.014 reaction, and Jude just 0.013 inside his dial in really cutting it fine to make the final. Dexter Wilson lined up against Isla Boughen in the other semi. Sadly Isla’s chain broke on the launch so Dexter went through.
Jude and Dexter once again lined up with Jude’s dial in giving him a 2 sec start over Dexter but threw it away with a red light, Dexter taking the win going under his dial in, so lucky!!!
JUNIOR BIKE
Leo Wheldon, first time in Juniors, beat Maisie Thornton for a bye in the semi’s and through to the final. William Mountford beat Jet Jackson for a semi against Alfie Barraclough, who’d taken a bye into the semi, Alfie with a new engine fitted in the week by Dave Taylor, had overcome gearchange problems and made no mistake to beat William.
In the final Leo had the advantage on the tree but red lit giving Alfie the win.
SCOOTER NO MERCY
First semi had Stuart McVicker beat Mike Pacey, both having gone through on byes. The other semi saw Eric Cope against Stephen Holt, Eric taking the win to line up against Stuart in the final. Stuart had the advantage on dial ins but as Eric closed in at the stripe Stuart pushed too hard and they crossed the line as one but Stuart had broken out giving Eric the win.
TOP BIKE
Peter Slater had a string of 5’s in qualifying, 5.74, 5.75 and 5.76, he was so consistent.
He beat Ashley Hodgson to take a bye to the final.
Nic Deighton beat Chris Hodgson to line up against Carl Mountford, Niall Montgomerie red lighting.
Carl riding his Kawasaki ZX10R for the first time beat Nic to line up against Peter.
Peter once again stormed through with another 5 sec pass at 5.88, Carl with a losing 6.01 so expect a 5 sec run from Carl in the near future.
BIKES NO MERCY
Terry Mountford, Rob Kneeshaw and Andrew Smith made it through to the semi’s, top qualifier Mark Patman a no show against Rob.
In the semi’s Andrew Smith beat Terry for his first final against Rob, through on a bye, Andrew getting the better of Rob delighted with his first final trophy.
NSCC Sunday
Having taken Saturdays win Ian Walley lined up against Aaron Bird in the first semi, times from the previous round just 0.035 seconds apart meant this was going to be one to watch. Aaron got the jump on the green and 0.2 sec up at the 60 foot mark but then it all went wrong for Aaron getting all out of shape and heading towards Ian in the right hand lane brake lights coming on as Aaron crossed in behind Ian to follow him across the stripe in the wrong lane!!!!
Lining up against Nic Grundy in the final Ian was past Nick just after the 60 foot mark to take his 2nd win of the weekend.
SIX SIXTY CARS
There was an 11 car field with a good mix of cars. Round 1 was completed but due to the inclement weather and a discussion between the drivers that was as far as it went but this is going to be a cracking good class this year.
RACE LEGENDS
Ex car racer, Bob Hancox joined Colin Fallows in the class, rider age and bike age must total at least 100 years!! Bob getting a good reaction time but seasoned campaigner Colin hauled past for the win.
PRO COMP CARS
Danny Peart layed down some impressive runs in the Manta and lined up against Nik Wilson who’d finally got the new motor running nicely in the dragster, Nik taking the win, both thrilled to receive their trophies.
