“FIRST ROLL RACING 1/4 MILE DRAG EVENT A RESOUNDING SUCCESS ”

Side by side 1/4 mile drag racing with a twist whereby competitors progress to the startline with a 100 metre run in to the 1/4 mile start. A speed of 50mph was set for the max rolling speed measured across a 16 foot trap with the trap end the start of the 1/4.  It took competitors a few runs to get the entry speed right, going too fast meaning no speed recorded for that run, before accelerating hard at the start of the 1/4.
There were 3 car  classes,  2 bike and 1 scooter.
Best 3 speeds were added together to give a total.
In FWD Lewis Simpson, Honda Civic, came out on top with a total of 441.476.
RWD had Harry Moore, Toyota Supra,  take the honours with 420.443.
AWD  and Andrew Crank peddled the rapid 2.3 ltr 4WD converted Vauxhall Corsa to 432.495.
BIKES SENIOR CLASS saw Simon James, Hayabusa,  put a string of runs together to end on 439.100.
Graham Newbould, turbo Hayabusa, overcame a slipping clutch, to end with the highest total of all at 502.880.
8 Scooters took part in that class, Adie Horrocks, Vespa 244cc coming away with a total of 322.042.
Everyone agreed this was an excellent competition format and requested that more meetings be arranged, watch this space.  Roll Racing is go in the UK thanks to the team at Straightliners.

The next Roll Rage event at Elvington is on Sunday 22nd September.
