“TRACK RECORDS TUMBLE AT CAMPBELTOWN AIRPORT 1/4 MILE AND ARGYLL MILE”
Phil Wood, back from a world record setting weekend in Germany and on his first trip to Campbeltown, took the Big CC turbo Hayabusa to an impressive 267.944mph first run. But Phil was to go even quicker on his 3rd run with a track record setting 273.575mph which was also a new personal best speed for Phil, this on Saturday. Second quickest, Jack Frost Holeshot turbo Hayabusa, improved on his Saturday speed recording a 260.384mph on Sunday as did Peter Slater, turbo Hayabusa, who was 3rd quickest with a 243.039mph having run 249.9mph here earlier in the year here at Campbeltown and Alan Stubbs with a 230.042mph.
Of the cars on the Argyll Mile Sunday saw Barry Sutherland, Ultima GTR, post a 186.741mph for fastest of the weekend. 2nd was Callum Arkell, BMW M3, who ran 176.242mph, the quickest on Saturday. 3rd was Finlay Gilchrist, BMW 3LTR, who ran 165.958mph on Saturday with Euan McLean, Audi RS3, on 162.729mph, also Saturday.
On the Campeltown 1/4 mile cars Dave Henderson, Audi RS3 drag car, ran an impressive 8.86sec run at 164mph for a new car track record on Sunday. Michael Strachan, Audi RS3, posted a 11.05sec at 124mph also Sunday. Callum Arkell was next up, BMW M3, on 11.08sec at 124mph, Saturday, with Barry Sutherland on 11.31sec at 135mph.

Saturday saw Graham Sykes on the Force of Nature steam rocket bike run a highly impressive 6.46sec at 154mph, a new track record, but Graham was to be outdone on Sunday when Phil Wood unleashed the bike to a 6.44sec at 149mph eclipsing Graham by 2/100ths of a second and a second track record for Phil.
Of the wheel driven bikes Jack Frost went 8.81sec at 188mph on Saturday, Peter Slater a 9.14sec at 167mph and David Wren, BMW S1000RR, the quickest non turbo bike at 9.94sec at 153mph.
