SUNDAY ARGYLL MILE AT CAMPBELTOWN

There were some very happy competitors on the mile after a morning of waiting for the rain soaked track to dry out and a favourable tail wind unlike Saturday.
Fastest bike was Jack Frost, Holeshot Turbo Hayabusa, clocking 273.246mph, just shy of his personal best set at Elvington. 2nd quickest was Phil Wood on the Big CC who managed 263.542mph having run 273mph here last September. Peter Slater, Big CC Turbo Hayabusa, at last achieved his goal of a run at 250mph achieving 251.002mph his ticket to his 250mph T shirt which he proudly wore on his last run having got stuck at 249mph last September.  Damien Hope was another with a personal best gradually building to an impressive 245.181mph in his first year of Top Speed running. Scott Glen ran 217.503mph on his H2 Kawasaki. First timer and only recently taken to motorcycling was Campbeltown resident Kieran McGeachy who puts great effort into helping Straightliners with these events getting a highly impressive 148.092mph on his Honda CBR600.
In the cars Barry Sutherland in his lovely V8 Ultima GTR increased his speed over Saturday by a full 10mph ending with a best of 187.899mph. A ferry trip from Islay saw regular Alison Mather, Audi S4, take the lady’s award with 2nd fastest speed 166.399mph. Francis Curran and Gavin McCue cracked the 160mph barrier with Francis on 161.711mph and Gavin 160.536mph.
Once again everyone of the Straightliners crew enjoyed the trip to Campbeltown and the great atmosphere, see you in September.
