Championship Points after Mid Summer Nationals at Melbourne Raceway, 3rd August 2025

GREAT WEEKEND OF RACING WITH A STRING OF PERSONAL BESTS.

 6 SEC
In the first semi it was a case of 2 riders being careful not to breakout as they had both run in the 5s. As it was Jamie Brookes beat Carl Mountford, just, only the win light giving us a clue it was that close. Phil Tomlinson, one of those with a new PB, beat Dave Knight. In the final Phil knew he could push hard in the knowledge his bike wouldn’t break out whereas Jamie could. Jamie was quick on the green and by the 330 Phil knew he was beaten and backed off giving Jamie the win.
NOSTALGIA PRO STOCK BIKE
With Patrick Hodgkiss injured Mike offered the ride to Scott Collier, dad Jerry being the regular crew chief. Scott soon got the hang of the bike once the quick shifter button was adjusted and posted a time under the class record, later broken again by Steve Howe.
Steve went to the final on a bye and Scott beat Rod Spry.
The final was a cracker with Dragstalgia winner Steve taking the win on his first visit to the Raceway.
NO MERCY BIKES
Once again a big field of runners whittled down to 3 Mountfords in the semi’s, Simon beating Terry and Carl beating Damion Hope to make it a brotherly affair in the final. Simon cut a cracking reaction time giving Carl a bit of a task to reel him in. It must have been the width of a tyre at the stripe it was that close Simon taking a well deserved win, another small cc winner following Andy Highams win at the last meeting.
JUNIORS
In the semi’s Maisie Thornton was so determined to beat Alfie Barraclough that she pulled an uncharacteristic red gifting a place in the final to Alfie. Jet Jackson, who’d put together a batch of Personal bests, was up against brother Toby. Jet got the better reaction time meaning Toby had some catching up to do, Toby across the line for a breakout giving Jet her first run in the final. Once again Jet cut the quicker green but Alfie was able to haul past just before the stripe for the win.
JUNIOR SPRINT CAR
Toby Jackson beat Charlie Wilkinson, another who’d got himself some new PB’s, but slowed in the semi and Jude Elliott cut a 0.092 reaction time pushing Dexter Wilson into a breakout. Come the final and Jude was once again on top form this time pushing Toby to a breakout to win the class.
NSCC SATURDAY
Phil  Winstanley beat recent TOTB CHAMPION Derek Beck to make the final with Ian Walley getting the better of 18 year old Grace Sleath. The final looked like being a proper nail biter which it turned out to be, Phil just a bumper ahead at the line.
NSCC SUNDAY
In the semi’s Phil Winstanley put one over on Scott Presland and once again Ian beat Grace, no doubt her day will come. So for the second time it was Phil against Ian for another epic battle. Phil was fractionally ahead at all the increments making it 2 out of 2 for Phil.
SIX SIXTY CARS
Shaun Rounthwaite, another with new PB’s, got a bye into the final and Phil Thompson getting by way of an uncharacteristic red light from David Coombes. Phil tried his best but Shaun’s top end turbo power won the day.
AMERICAN SUPERSTOCK
Grace Sleath, yes the same one, lined up against Tyler Smith in the first semi. With near identical reaction times it was always going to be hard fought, Tyler taking the win just 8/1000ths inside his dial in and Grace 3/100ths inside hers.  Jarred Heathcote had a bye into the final.
In the final Tyler’s luck deserted him and he went under his dial in so handing the win to Jarred.
