Times and Championship Points for Six Sixty at Elvington, 7th & 8th June 2025

Despite nearly being blown away and being a little damp at times the Six Sixty Championship moved a few miles down the road to the ‘home of speed’ to the all concrete surface of Elvington Airfield.

A small but enthusiastic entry was on the property to entertain, and they certainly did just that but the anticipated first five over the eighth wasn’t forthcoming although came it came close thanks to the efforts put down by the ‘Busa’s of Chris Hodgson and National Sprint Association sprinter Ian Wicks. How does 6.04 and 6.05s respectively sound at well over 120 mph plus!

Once all the qualifying and practice runs had been completed the Six Sixty bike bracket kicked the race off with wins for Damien Hope ‘Busa and the Bandit of Rob Briars after the shock red light start by Hodgson’s ‘Busa. Colin Fallows also drew a competition single following a no show by Chris Jacobs after losing two chains on 3 of his qualifying passes. Also gaining a bye into the semis was Andy Higham’s Deofol 500 where he would meet Rob Briars. But a red light ended that encounter early in favour of Higham. Shortly after Andy was up against Damien in the final having taken the win light against Colin’s rapid ZZR. On the blink of the green Damien was away and gone to a 6.79 (6.58 dial) to cover Andy’s 7.31 (7.25 dial).

Six Sixty Scooters pitted Jack Strangroom’s X8 Piaggio in one half of the final against Eric Cope’s rapid 248 Lambretta. Jack arrived in the final thanks to the ‘lucky dog’ bye and a win against Paul Priestly’s 265 Lambretta. In Eric’s case a win against Mike Pacey’s MoTec Rotax and a bye in the semi gave the Eric the overall win; 8.51 (8.14 dial) to Jack’s 11.83 (11.65 dial).

Six Sixty Juniors gave us a three bike field for our stars of the future to contest. The opener for family honours pitched the Jetster against brother Toby who shaved the amber a smidge too soon handing the win to Jet where she would face the formidable Alfie Barraclough. With a 20.30 dial in favour of the Jetster would the distance be too great for Alfie to overcome on his 11.03 dial. Only by a squeaker; 11.09 to Jet’s breakout and best of the weekend 19.89.

In another three car affair Six Sixty Junior Sprint Car handed a bag full of points to the ‘Speed Demon’ Toby Jackson in his final against the Honda Kart of Charlie Wilkinson; 11.85 (11.39 dial) to 15.84 (14.75 dial). Dexter Wilson eliminated his dragster on a 9.27 red light start.

Finally, in Six Sixty Cars the bracket win went here to Peter Lane’s 500 cubed blown Pontiac Firebird ending the day on a nearly bang on dial of 7.90 with a 7.91 to cover off Sara Unsworth’s breakout and best of 50 plus runs 9.39 on a 9.55 dial. Also in contention was Pete Eborall’s VW whose 9.04 dial wasn’t enough to cover off the Firebird’s 8.20.
