Straightliners presents Drag ‘n’ Drift at the Dakota Raceway

Drag and Drift returns to Dakota Raceway at Smeatharpe Airfield for another fun filled Saturday of burning rubber and performance on the drag strip and the drift arena.

For the straight line enthusiasts, the two lane eighth mile drag and sprint strip will be in action with a full entry of bikes of varying ages to modern day superbikes courtesy of the National Sprint Association. Classes on show range from Juniors, Vintage and Classic, Racing to Road. It’s a great ecliptic mix of motorcycling marques sprinting over the eighth mile, side-by-side against the clock, plus the highlight of the day – The Eliminator.

Although run primarily against the clock, many sprints are two lane affairs which allow you to race directly against your mates as Day Entries in Run What Ya Brung. This is where you could be racing your mates or the real deal sprint and drag machines. One or two piece leathers are required along with a helmet.

Run What Ya Brung is also open for car entries too. Come and test your pride and joy against the clock. The day is open to any British, European and American marques. Provided it passes scrutineering you can race it. A crash helmet is required. Passenger rides are available, and crash helmets are a requirement. You must be over 18 years of age.

The drift track provides tail happy drifters the opportunity to hang out their rears and burn that rubber in the safe confines of a specially laid out circuit. Highly entertaining to watch and even better entertainment if you’re drifting yourself. BMWs, Fords and Toyota’s are popular choices of drift machines, but other makes and models sometimes turns up for added excitement. There will be ample seat time with a playpen for beginners.

Car parking, catering facilities will be available on the day as a free walk around the pits for both disciplines. All spectator tickets are on the gate. £10; cash or card. Under 16’s are free admission. Dogs allowed but must be kept on a lead always.
