You don't need a fully tuned DRag-bike to go racing, you can even use your road bike. We have different classes to suit and you don't have to be a seasoned rider, our championship is for all levels and ability!
The Straightliners Championships are open to all bikes, road or race prepared and a proving ground for top speed testing too. Whether you just want to test yourself or aim for the top of the leaderboard you can do it here without all the red tape.
The aim is to stay within your class and not "break out" of your class! Think it's easy? Get yourself signed up to our championship, learn the ropes and climb the ranks to be reigned champion of your class. Pit your wits against the clock, machine and yourself!
If you know, you know! If not and you are mad about bikes but can't afford to go racing, this is for you. Drag Racing is not just about going in a straight line, if it was, everyone would be doing it that's a fact, and not just doing it, winning at it too! Drag Racing is one of the oldest forms of racing, it's fast paced and more addictive than you know.
With a loyal and dedicated community following, Melbourne Raceway is without doubt a very loved and adored drag-strip that has played a part of so many racers and enthusiasts lives for decades, some people came here with their grandfathers, grandmothers, mums and dads and began racing here themselves where their own children have followed and the cycle continues. Unfortunately Melbourne Raceway closed down in 2017, a heart-breaking development for the community. Straightliners have stepped up to the plate in the hope of helping the community rebuild and bring back Melbourne Raceway, it is incredibly important to the UK racing community and it deserves to be preserved and kept open for racing. Melbourne Raceway has been such an important venue and the backdrop to some incredible moments in drag racing, it is a part of racing heritage in the UK and it deserves it's rightful place as the North of England's premier drag-racing venue, we aim to bring it back to life by working with the community.
