FOGGY START TO ROUND 1 AT SANTA POD
No Mercy Bikes
New to competition, Jay Baxendale, qualified at No 1 but lack of experience of the eliminations format of dial ins saw Jill Pacey take the win and move to the final with Rob Briers beating Gill Cook to join her. Rob had to wait 5 seconds before releasing the clutch just edging over the line in front to take a well deserved win.
No Mercy Scooters
Mike Pacey managed to sort his Saturday gearbox maladies first thing on Sunday morning lining up against Stuart McVicker in the first semi, Stuart making it through to the final Paul Gurney taking the second semi from Jamie Lawn who was a full second off his dial in.
It was a good battle in the final absolutely neck and neck Paul taking the win with Stuart breaking out.
Juniors
Alfie Barraclough took the trophy having suffered multiple stalls on his clutch and gears bike on the sticky track.
Junior Sprint Car
It was first weekend out for Vinnie Coombes, Dave and Nina’s son, who’d been out for the first time at Smeatharpe on Saturday. He soon got the hang of his first visit to Santa Pod improving with each run. In the semi lining up against Dexter Wilson he was too keen releasing the clutch and got his first red light so Dexter booked his place in the final against Jude Elliott who’d beaten Jake Little. As is usual between these two it was a close thing Dexter taking the win just 1/100th inside his dial in.
Top Bike
Ashley Hodgson on the ex Damon Hope Nitrous Hayabusa got dialed in with his first experience of nitrous on Saturday’s RWYB. In the final he lined up against Nic Deighton now with shift light fitted on Saturday evening. Nic took the win pushed all the way by Ashley.
Legends
Colin Fallows took the Legends win.
Six Sixty Cars
Sara Unsworth had brought along the “Lemon Drizzle” Mustang to test out some mods Steve had done to the car through the winter unfortunately finding a problem that couldn’t be traced. Sara grabbed the keys to Abi’s Fiat Abarth to take the win and get some points on the board.
FTD
Fastest Time of the Day award went to Daniel Laiveses who’d travelled all the way from Hungary and posted an impressive 6.75sec at 222mph on his Superstreet bike Turbo Busa.
